Prepping for a Summer of Ministry
What’s on your calendar for the next several weeks? Our church’s summer of ministry is heating up!
(Alert: more puns ahead…)
I’m gearing up a summer message series called “Route 66: A Road Trip Through Scripture.” Intersecting with the centennial of the iconic highway, it will trace the Bible’s landscape from creation to new creation. The journey begins May 31.
We’re cueing up “Reel Stories,” a monthly movie matinee on three Sundays (June 21, July 12, and August 16), running from 5pm to about 7pm. We’re working to have viewing in the Atrium as well as The Hub. These moving pictures, respectively, are The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and Hidden Figures. Let cinematic speculation begin on what theme or themes tie them together. Each showing will be followed by a few minutes of discussion.
Also, we’re serving up the standard fare of children’s and youth camps, along with Vacation Bible School (July 20-23). And Amber is cooking up “Summer of Joy” (see her article and the one below it in this same Cornerstone).
So, please read through this edition for more information. Remember that summer is a time many people are exploring church options, so let’s be sure to keep our welcome faces on as we…
Keep dreamin’ God’s dreams!
Pastor Terry
